On March 4, 1885, Wellsville was introduced to a new business, called the Wellsville Bank. The bank was actually the first brick building within the town of Wellsville . Since 1885, the Wellsville Bank has gone through many changes in order to provide our customers with the best service available. The main goal of the bank is to provide friendly, fast, and convenient service.

John Dean and S.L. Brooking had started the bank as a private enterprise. They both invested $11,500 to open the bank. The first day the bank opened for business, they had five people make deposits, which in return left the end of day balance at $29,409.72. Within six years the bank became incorporated on August 17, 1891. There were nine officers and thirty-two stockholders at the time. Later on August 20, 1891 the bank received its first charter as a state banking institution, with the capital assets standing at $25,000.

With the bank expanding they needed more space so they decided to move from the Steen building to the brick building that is located on the corner of 6th and Main in 1903. They ended up staying there for 74 years.

Today we are located at 112 W. 6 th St., just east of the school. With up-to-date technology we are now able to offer big bank services with small town friendliness. Stop by today and we'll be glad to help you with any of your banking needs.
